NFRC Certification In 1992 the National Fenestration Rating Council (NFRC) — fenestration is a technical word for windows and doors — established uniform tests and ratings to help homeowners make accurate comparisons among brands of windows. The NFRC label identifies a product's U-Factor — the ability to conduct heat. On a window, U-Factor means how much indoor energy (heating or cooling) may be transferred outward through the window as a whole. A lower U-Factor means better insulating quality. When comparing, keep in mind that some manufacturers present R-values, which measure resistance to energy transfer and often refer only to individual parts of the window such as the frame or the glass. Andersen® Corporation is a founding member of the NFRC, which includes product designers and manufacturers, builders, utility company energy specialists, government agencies, and consumer advocates. Renewal by Andersen® adheres to the rating system and proudly displays the NFRC label on our certified windows. For more information on the NFRC visit the NFRC website at www.nfrc.org.
