Fibrex™ material makes a better window

Renewal by Andersen® windows feature Fibrex™ material. Its development process included more than two dozen patents. Fibrex™ material is a revolutionary composite that combines the strength and stability of wood with the low-maintenance features of vinyl.
Fibrex™ material consists of 40 percent reclaimed pine wood fibers and 60 percent thermoplastic polymer by weight. All of the wood fibers used in the compounding process, as well as much of the thermoplastic polymer, are reclaimed directly from the 65-acre Andersen® Corporation manufacturing plant operations in Bayport, Minnesota.

Fibrex™ material is resistant to changes in temperature so it expands and contracts very little in heat or in cold. That means it's also resistant to bowing and cracking — conditions that lead to air and water infiltration. It's an excellent insulator — about 700 times better than aluminum. Windows made of Fibrex™ material resist the transfer of heat out of your home and the ability of cold temperatures outdoors to chill the window areas inside.
In producing Fibrex™ material, virtually every wood fiber is coated with a thermoplastic polymer to resist decay and help prevent future rot, and Fibrex™ material is warranted not to flake, rust, blister, peel, crack, pit, or corrode.
